Taproot was founded in 2016 by Jennifer Viren, a Traverse City native with a dedication to share her love for our environment and community through food and beverage with a team who share the same values. Taproot was established as a creative outlet for locally focused and globally inspired plates, cultivated cocktails, and curated cider offerings
Chef
Chef Andrew is a lover of food. He focuses on creating flavors that are true to the farmer, food that is fresh and light and pleasant to eat. Food is of course the substance of life it brings friends and family together and should be enjoyed. Originally from Chicago his career has brought him many places, including private cheffing in England, France & Croatia. Chef Andy has now planted his roots with Taproot Cider House and their new boutique winery, market, bakery and farm at Taproot Farmstead. He is so excited to combine global flavors with the bounty of Northern Michigan
Jennifer & Chef Andrew met in 2016, and in 2023 they started a small farm in Cedar, MI. Their cidery, market and bakery is gearing to open spring of 2026. Follow the progress at Taproot Farmstead
